Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Researcher to join our team, focusing on multi-client projects that use advanced technologies to enhance geological mapping experiences in Nigeria. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and technology deployment in the field of geosciences and geosite conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and lead advanced field mapping expeditions to document and analyze geoheritage sites across Nigeria.
- Perform GIS and DEM modelling to create detailed digital terrain models and spatial analyses.
- Lead digital outcrop modelling efforts using advanced imaging techniques and 3D modelling software.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to meet project aims and deliverables.
- Write technical reports, research papers, and presentations for clients and conferences.
- Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote awareness and appreciation of geoheritage.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in 360° videos, 3D visualization, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), holograms, and immersive technologies (such as VR, AR, MR, and DR).
- Use of drone technology for aerial surveys and simulations in site mapping and data collection.
- Experience in writing papers for high-impact publications.
- Experience in using advanced imaging and 3D modelling software for digital outcrop modelling.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geosciences, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of a 2:2 with an overall CGPA of 65%.
- Familiarity with advanced data analysis, especially in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in various locations across Nigeria (except NE and NW for now).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
