Position Overview:
We are seeking a proficient GIS Specialist to join our team, focusing on utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for our geological mapping and geoheritage projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced GIS techniques in the field of geosciences and geosite conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GIS and DEM modelling to create detailed digital terrain models and spatial analyses.
- Develop and manage geospatial databases to support project needs.
- Conduct spatial analysis and produce high-quality maps and visualizations.
- Collaborate with geoscientists and other team members to integrate GIS data into field mapping and documentation efforts.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and related tools.
- Proficiency in remote sensing and spatial analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of database management and geospatial data processing.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geosciences, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in GIS and spatial analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in various locations across Nigeria.
